A Silent but Powerful Street Performance

In front of the bustling Shibuya Station, a 43-year-old man known as the “Compliment Uncle” quietly conducts his unique street performance. Holding a sign that reads “すごくほめます” (I give great compliments), he offers sincere praise and warm smiles to passersby, hoping to brighten their day with simple words of encouragement. Though many hurriedly walk by without acknowledgment, those who pause are immediately captivated by his charm, receiving generous and heartfelt compliments.

One such encounter involved a 15-year-old high school girl who stopped to listen. Without hesitation, the Compliment Uncle praised her with lively gestures, saying, “You radiate energy and positivity. Your vibrant spirit is truly inspiring.” His words flowed effortlessly for a full minute, leaving the girl pleasantly surprised. She remarked that receiving such direct praise was rare in her daily life. As a token of appreciation, she placed 150 yen into his collection box before walking away with a smile.
